Title of Page: Helpful Suggestions

DEMO STATION:
If the Demo Station key doesn’t turn, hold the cabinet door closed while turning the key, or try putting the key in the opposite direction. This is a master key and should work on all stations, but it is more difficult in some stations than others.

Place the remotes inside the cabinet, and lock the station when you are finished unless informed otherwise.

Lock the station and your classroom; we have had equipment stolen out of rooms.

Please keep the Demo Stations clean and clutter free. Use the classroom desk and/or tables nearby for storage.

LCD PROJECTOR:
When turning the projector on or off, point the remote straight on or underneath the unit. You will hear a sound, or the fan, or you will see white light in the lens to know that it has been turned on. In some classrooms, you can aim the LCD remote at the projector from the station, rather than moving out into the classroom.

When there is a small, black my.tv transmitter on top of the demo station, point the LCD remote at it in order to turn the projector on or off.

Play with classroom lighting and window lighting for viewing from any component.

REMOTES:
To identify the remotes, check for the following: The DVD/CD remote will have buttons labelled DVD/CD and VCR. The LCD projector remote will have buttons labelled SOURCE or VIDEO or INPUT.

Always aim the projector remote at the projector.

Always aim the DVD/VCR remote at the DVD/VCR player. Get the remote ready for the separate component by pressing DVD/CD or VCR on the remote, pointed at the player.

If a remote doesn’t seem to be working, "roll" the batteries or take them out and rotate them. If it still doesn’t work, replace the batteries – either two AA’s or two AAA’s.

If there are more than two remotes, they may be for other classroom equipment, and they are not used to run the demo station.

COMPONENTS:
Use the switch box to view the component that you are using.

Use the Selector button on the DVD player to view the component that you are using.

Turn off “extra” components if you are unable to toggle to the component that you want your students to view.

COMPUTER:
Logging onto the computer can take a few minutes, so you might want to turn it on ahead of time.

Using the LCD remote aimed at the projector, toggle back to the computer by pressing Camera or RGB.

DOCUMENT CAMERA:
When using documents and transparencies on the document camera, it’s best to use at least an 18-point font.

If you are using an object and then change to a document, for auto focusing purposes, it’s sometimes easier to turn the camera off and begin again. Be sure to place the document on the surface first.

When using the document camera, play with classroom lighting. For example, you can open or close the blinds, turn off the lights (if the students will not need to take notes), add some lamps to the classroom, or even use the light of an overhead projector.

DVD/VCR PLAYERS:
The DVD players double as the sound system.

The DVD/VHS combination player may need to be powered on to view the document camera or to have sound on the computer. VCR should be visible on the control panel, and a small, red AU should be next to it by using the channel buttons to the right.

All have the common media buttons of play icon of play pause icon of pause stop icon of stop on both the player and the remote.
